April 28: 2018 Relay for Life Conway

Click here for more event information

Join Team BDRC as we partner with the 2018 Relay for Life Conway on Sat April 28th. Join our team (Black Dog Running Co) for the event or donate on the event page

Relay is a team fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track or designated path. Each event is 6-24 hours in length and each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. Cancer patients don’t stop because they’re tired, and for one night, neither do we.

Each team sets up a themed campsite at the event and continues their fundraising efforts by collecting donations for food, goods, games, and activities. This money will count towards their overall team fundraising goal.

June 30: Coping Together 5K Wine Fun Run/Walk

The 1st annual Coping Together 5K Wine Fun Run/Walk will begin and end at La Belle Amie Vineyards located in Little River, SC. Registered participants receive a t-shirt along with free entry (and a complimentary glass of wine) into the July 4 La Belle Amie cookout. T-shirts guaranteed to participants registered by June 18.

Coping Together started in July 2013 by two friends, Michele Hartman and Nan Hasting. Both have been touched by cancer in two very different ways.  Michele’s late husband; Randy Hartman battled cancer for over 20 years, and Nan is a two-time breast cancer survivor. After researching and talking with cancer professionals, both women quickly discovered that there wasn’t a cancer support group in the North Strand of Myrtle Beach. Both decided to form a non-profit support group and thus “Coping Together” was formed because cancer not only affects the patient, but it also the people around them.

Coping Together is a community support group/outreach program for anyone who has been affected by cancer. Attendees include patients, caregivers, survivors, family members and friends. Meetings are held at McLeod Seacoast Hospital on Hwy 9 in Little River the first Monday of each month from 6-7 pm. No meetings are held in June, July & August.

Coping Together is recognized by the American Cancer Society as a support group for the North Strand of Myrtle Beach.

*The course is USATF certified and Wilson Race Timing will be the official timing company.
