April 5: National Walking Day

The American Heart Association is encouraging Americans to get Healthy For Good by being more physically active. The National Walking Day Celebration has been expanded to a month long initiative as part of the Healthy For Good movement. The movement is designed to inspire lasting change through small, simple steps in four key areas: Eat smart, Add color, Move more, Be well.

Packet Pickup Info:

The Health & Fitness Boutique in North Myrtle Beach will feature exhibitors showcasing the latest trends, designs, and advances in running shoes and apparel. The best thing about the boutique is that it is free and open to the public!

The Health & Fitness Boutique is also the Official Packet Pick-Up Headquarters. Unless VIP Packet Pick-up is purchased, participants must pick up their race packets (race bibs, participant shirts, tutus and drawstring bags) at the Health & Fitness Boutique prior to race day.

May 28: Brookgreen Gardens 5K

Join us on Sunday, May 28 for the 4th Brookgreen Gardens 5K and 1 Mile Race. This is one of the area’s most popular races. Brookgreen Gardens is on the National Historic Registry and one of the most scenic locations in the Southeast. And, one of the few evening races in the Myrtle Beach area. This will be the only race at Brookgreen in 2017.

July 23-Sept 16: BFF 5K/10K Training Group

Come join Team Black Dog and train for the 2017 BFF Pink Ribbon Run 5K and/or 10K! Team Black Dog will equip you with the tools and knowledge to help you cross the finish line. Taught by certified running coaches and experienced runners with a passion for the sport, participants will receive individual attention and help along this journey. Participants can choose to train for the 5K only, 10K only, or the Double Bling (both the 5K and 10K)
Prerequisites: None

Training Dates: July 23-September 16
Target Race Date: September 16

Cost: $85.00/participant (does not include race entry fee; participant will receive a discount code but must register through the race website using the discount code)

Choose your ability level:

  1. The Red Team is for those interested in walking the half-marathon. This group will focus mainly on walking with some power bursts built in the training plan to increase speed and endurance.
  2. The Green Team is for the individual interested in completing the half-marathon through run/walk intervals. This group will focus on varying run/walk intervals and help the individual find the perfect interval time for them to complete the race.
  3. The Black Team is for the individual interested in mostly running the half-marathon. This group will focus on increasing endurance and speed.

Program Includes:

  • 8 week daily training plan
  • 3 weekly team workouts
  • Team Black Dog Technical Shirt

July 29-October 22: MB Mini Marathon Half Marathon Training Team

Come join Team Black Dog and train for the 2017 MB Mini Marathon! Team Black Dog will equip you with the tools and knowledge to help you cross the finish line. Taught by certified running coaches and experienced runners with a passion for the sport, participants will receive individual attention and help along this journey.
Prerequisites: Participants must be able to complete 3-5 miles (running and/or walking) by start date.

Training Dates: July 29-October 22
Target Race Date: October 22

Cost: $110.00/participant (does not include race entry fee; participant will receive a 15% off discount code but must register through the race website using the discount code)

Choose your ability level:

  1. The Red Team is for those interested in walking the half-marathon. This group will focus mainly on walking with some power bursts built in the training plan to increase speed and endurance.
  2. The Green Team is for the individual interested in completing the half-marathon through run/walk intervals. This group will focus on varying run/walk intervals and help the individual find the perfect interval time for them to complete the race.

Prerequisites: Participants must have completed a half marathon within the past year and be able to complete 5 miles by start date along with committing to training 3-5 days a week during the training program.

Training Dates: November 8-March 3
Target Race Date: March 3

Cost: $140.00/participant (does not include race entry fee)

Choose your ability level:

  1. The Red Team is for those interested in walking the marathon. This group will focus mainly on walking with some power bursts built in the training plan to increase speed and endurance.
  2. The Green Team is for the individual interested in completing the marathon through run/walk intervals. This group will focus on varying run/walk intervals and help the individual find the perfect interval time for them to complete the race.
  3. The Black Team is for the individual interested in mostly running the marathon. This group will focus on increasing endurance and speed.

Program Includes:

  • 16 week marathon daily training plan
