July 1: Halfway There Group Run and Breakfast

Join us to celebrate the halfway point of 2017 for a special group run from the shop on the morning of Saturday, July 1st @7:30am. We will have members of our annual 1000 mile club that will be joining us to get in some miles and keep the momentum going the second half of 2017. We will also be joined by special guest Skechers Running with demo shoes and some raffle giveaways. Post run join us for breakfast and coffee at our neighbor the Bagel Factory. Route options will be 5 or 10 miles.

Packet Pickup will be at Black Dog on Monday, July 3 from 4:30-7pm and Tuesday, July 4 beginning at 6am at Valor Park. The races begin at 7:30am.

Join us for one of Myrtle Beach’s largest race and the only Independence Day race in the area. Enjoy the beautiful Market Common area as you participate in either an 8k, a 5k, or a 1-mile race.

★ FREE Parking is available on the street and in multiple parking lots and garages located on site at Market Common
★ Enjoy a post-race breakfast from Bojangles
★ Male and Female Overall Winners of the 8k and 5k will be given a FREE pair of running shoes provided by Brooks Running and Black Dog Running
★ Awards for top 3 overall and top masters male and female, and age groups

July 23-Sept 16: BFF 5K/10K Training Group

Come join Team Black Dog and train for the 2017 BFF Pink Ribbon Run 5K and/or 10K! Team Black Dog will equip you with the tools and knowledge to help you cross the finish line. Taught by certified running coaches and experienced runners with a passion for the sport, participants will receive individual attention and help along this journey. Participants can choose to train for the 5K only, 10K only, or the Double Bling (both the 5K and 10K)
Prerequisites: None

Training Dates: July 23-September 16
Target Race Date: September 16

Cost: $85.00/participant (does not include race entry fee; participant will receive a discount code but must register through the race website using the discount code)

Choose your ability level:

  1. The Red Team is for those interested in walking the half-marathon. This group will focus mainly on walking with some power bursts built in the training plan to increase speed and endurance.
  2. The Green Team is for the individual interested in completing the half-marathon through run/walk intervals. This group will focus on varying run/walk intervals and help the individual find the perfect interval time for them to complete the race.
  3. The Black Team is for the individual interested in mostly running the half-marathon. This group will focus on increasing endurance and speed.

July 29-October 22: MB Mini Marathon Half Marathon Training Team

Come join Team Black Dog and train for the 2017 MB Mini Marathon! Team Black Dog will equip you with the tools and knowledge to help you cross the finish line. Taught by certified running coaches and experienced runners with a passion for the sport, participants will receive individual attention and help along this journey.
Prerequisites: Participants must be able to complete 3-5 miles (running and/or walking) by start date.

Training Dates: July 29-October 22
Target Race Date: October 22

Cost: $110.00/participant (does not include race entry fee; participant will receive a 15% off discount code but must register through the race website using the discount code)

Choose your ability level:

  1. The Red Team is for those interested in walking the half-marathon. This group will focus mainly on walking with some power bursts built in the training plan to increase speed and endurance.
  2. The Green Team is for the individual interested in completing the half-marathon through run/walk intervals. This group will focus on varying run/walk intervals and help the individual find the perfect interval time for them to complete the race.

August 26: Francis Marion Dirt Dash Trail Race (5K-26.2)

Since 2010 the Francis Marion Dirt Dash has taken place within the Francis Marion National Forest. The past 7 events have been a blast…but every now and then it is okay to refresh an event and change course…

The 8th Annual Dirt Dash is changing locations! I am excited to report that I am heading to the Middleton Place Woodlands to start fresh with a NEW course (no more out-and-backs…looped courses for all distances!)…NEW distances…LIVE entertainment…and FOOD!!

Camping and LIVE MUSIC!!
Friday before the race (August 25th), enjoy packet pickup at Middleton Place Woodlands (from 4PM until 6:30PM. Packets can also be picked up morning of the race from 0600:0630 at the START/FINISH LINE) and hangout to listen to the evenings live entertainment (band to be announced at a later date closer to the event). If you would like to camp out for the evening, a section of Baileys Field will be left open to campers. Who wouldn’t want to wake up next to the Start/Finish line!

Saturday after the race…
Hangout for the headlining musical act (band to be announced at a later date closer to the event)! Additionally, there will be food available for purchase at the event. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available as well.

Available distances…
New for 2017, distances of 5k, 10k, 13.1 mile and 26.2 mile events are available!

We kick off the morning with the 13.1 and 26.2 mile events at 7:30AM and the 5k and 10k get underway at 8:30AM.

Awards and Finisher Medals!!
There are NO age group awards for this event. All finishers will receive a finishers medal regardless of the distance.
Awards will be handed out to the TOP 5 RUNNERS (male and female) for each distance.

 

November 8-March 3: MB Marathon Training Team

Come join Team Black Dog and train for the 2018 MB Marathon! Team Black Dog will equip you with the tools and knowledge to help you cross the finish line. Taught by certified running coaches and experienced runners with a passion for the sport, participants will receive individual attention and help along this journey.
Prerequisites: Participants must have completed a half marathon within the past year and be able to complete 5 miles by start date along with committing to training 3-5 days a week during the training program.

Training Dates: November 8-March 3
Target Race Date: March 3

Cost: $140.00/participant (does not include race entry fee)

Choose your ability level:

  1. The Red Team is for those interested in walking the marathon. This group will focus mainly on walking with some power bursts built in the training plan to increase speed and endurance.
  2. The Green Team is for the individual interested in completing the marathon through run/walk intervals. This group will focus on varying run/walk intervals and help the individual find the perfect interval time for them to complete the race.
  3. The Black Team is for the individual interested in mostly running the marathon. This group will focus on increasing endurance and speed.
